Can i only use free xp to research HQs? I want to research an HQ in a line that is unlocked, but it says I only have 127 available xp, which is my amount of free xp.

The meta in WoTG for xp is the same as the other games. Normal experience is grinded (earned) via battle. If you research ALL cards and all POSSIBLE HQs stemming from your previous HQ, experience earned on THAT HQ can be converted into free xp using GOLD. Free xp is also earned as 5% of normal xp.

Yes, you can use free xp as part of researching new HQs, but I think that you are way too short on normal xp as well.

i am not trying to get more free xp. i have played WoT for several years and understand that system fine.

let's say i have a training hq with 500 xp and 127 free xp. i want to research the support hq leading from that hq. i have researched the cards needed to unlock it, but when i go to see how much more xp i need to research the support hq, it says i only have 127 available xp.

It might be a glitch. It should say 127 free xp available underneath he 500 green XP. You can use both to get the next HQ. Do you have a screenshot?

Typically it tells you how much of each type will be used.

Nevermind. It only told me the free xp but still used the regular, so all's good.
